Description
Material:
Stainless Steel
Use Notes:
Bird-B-Gone Spikes have flexible bases and can easily be installed on flat or curved surfaces. Bird-B-Gone Spikes can be glued, screwed or tied down to most surfaces. The spike strips have pre-drilled holes along the base. Also, Bird-B-Gone Spikes should be used for birds starling size or larger such as pigeons and gulls. Smaller birds such as sparrows will sometimes squeeze their way in between spikes to get back to a good spot.
Use Instructions:
1.Clean the surface
Clean the surface of any bird droppings, nesting materials or debris. Bird droppings do carry disease so make sure to wear gloves and respiratory protection when dealing with large amounts. Use a disinfectant to clean the surface and make sure the area is dry before installation.
Suggestion: Use a 10% bleach or ammonia solution to disinfect the area. It is important that all debris is removed including overhanging branches, leaves, and nesting materials before disinfecting the area.
2. Choose your mounting method.
Construction grade polyurethane adhesive can be used to install the bird spikes on most surfaces.
For Wood: Use wood screws to secure Bird Spikes into a wood surface. There are two sets of holes between each fan of spikes. Make sure the ends are secured tightly and at least one screw is placed every six inches.
For Concrete: Outdoor construction adhesive can be used to secure Bird Spikes down to a variety of surfaces. Bird-B-Gone Spike Polycarbonate has a glue trough along the base. Use a polyurethane adhesive meant for outdoor use. Silicone adhesives are not recommended. For extra security, screw or bolt down the spikes along with using an adhesive.
3. Install
Bird-B-Gone Spikes can easily be cut down into smaller lengths if needed using tin snips, wire cutters, a hacksaw etc. Install the spikes with no more than 1″ in front of and behind the area to be covered. If more than 1″ of space is left open, birds can land and nest in these spots.
